A Sunday Session with Dustin Gilding...

One of the newest riders to the deity roster, Dustin Gilding, is a veteran behind the shovel and someone who brings style to every set. His riding continues to progress on a daily basis and we just cannot wait to get him on a deity Cryptkeeper frame for this season. Here is an update from Dustin....

Del Rey Oaks Trail Web Edit....

Allen Stoddard just e-mailed us a recent web edit of him riding his local spot that was edited by Brian Damschen. On board our deity Blacklabel Handlebar, Allen was recently picked up by the Banshee Bikes factory program, so keep an eye out for him this season.

In related news...the deity Blacklabel bar is back in stock, so PICK ONE UP! If you have not checked one out before...it comes in at a 15mm rise, 31 inches wide, and is one of the lightest bars made at that width. A friendly challenge...do some comparisons and try to find something lighter, at a better price, and that has the strength reputation our does. A high end World Cup ready bar that comes in black on black, what more could someone ask for?

Preview: The deity Decoy 2.5 Pedals...

Our Decoy 2.0 pedals are getting a makeover and the final product looks amazing. From the "deitybikeco." logo, to the addition of some color options...these pedals have become loved by so many people who want a super thin pedal that is tough to beat price-wise. Now, they will look even better.

At a weight of 425 grams, a thinness of 17mm, and a retail price of $75...they are only getting better with the 2.5's.

They just went into production and will be available in JUNE! Until then, the current Decoy 2.0 pedals are all in stock in both white and black to fulfill your needs.

Stay tuned as we will be releasing more preview shots of other parts exclusively for you guys...

Product Preview: the deity Decoy LT Pedal

There are a lot of new products, changes, and expansions to the deity product line coming throughout the next 12 months. And...when we say "a lot", we mean it.  We have been dropping small sneak peeks of some of the small parts the past couple of months, but the true substance is yet to come. One of the things many of you have requested is for our infamous deity Decoy LT pedals to also be available in white. So, you have asked and you shall receive!

The addition of the white deity Decoy LT with lasered artwork and black anodized cnc machined aluminum hex pins will be available in JUNE alongside other pedal expansions we are jumping into. The Decoy LT pedals are one of the lightest platform pedals money can buy and their reputation speaks for itself. Nevertheless, there is a lot in the works and it does not stop at pedals! These images are simply a preview for all of you who loyally check the deity Mania Blog and our Facebook page, so expect more to come.

Down Trees, Chainsaws, & a Classic....

Recently, with the assistance of our chainsaw, we cleared out a few old down trees that had been littering our creek in front of the deity office building. Nothing is better than the rumble of a saw to remind us of one of our top 3 favorite horror films of all time, Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Influential, fast paced, brutal, and for many people...one of the more disturbing things they could ever watch, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is a gorgeous display of what can happen if you step foot on the wrong lot of property. Not only does it hold up to today's "standards", it is yet to be matched. Watch the preview and go rent it now.

The First Phase of Post Weld Heat Treat!

Production of our long awaited deity Cryptkeeper and Streetsweeper frames are in full swing with the Cryptkeeper having completed it's first round of Full Post Weld Heat Treatment. Now, every frame gets checked one by one, mounted individually, checked for alignment, adjusted, BB shells are reamed to spec, and we continue to the final phase of Post Weld Heat Treat. When the final phase is completed, we will enter the ED Black Finish treatment that will coat the inside of every tube, prevent rust, and add beauty to the tubing. After completion of ED finish...we are off to powdercoat finally.

Most every DJ frame on the market is simply welded and then sent to powdercoat and very very very few of them are Post Weld Heat Treated. Why? Because it is expensive, time consuming, requires a factory with skill, and once again, it is an expensive and complicated process.

Many frame manufacturers market and state that their frames are made with "Heat Treated Tubing". What they are not saying is that their frames are NOT post weld heat treated. They just simply use heat treated tubing...like everyone else. Do not let companies fool you with their production spin...the results are in the longevity of the frame, it's strength, and the detail it went through during production.

Take a look at some detailed images of a deity Cryptkeeper during it's creation...

Viggie and Vika : Live in Iceland...

If you know us...you know that our musical instrument of choice is the drums and nobody is better behind a kit than Brian Viglione. Brian recently collaborated with classically trained pianist, Vika, to perform a select set of metal songs in her native Iceland. They have been posting up sections of the intimate show and it is impressive to see Vika translate thrash metal into piano form while Brian continues to do what he does best. Two talented people playing with passion. Here is their cover of Metallica's "One" and Slayer's "Raining Blood"...

The deity / Decline Photoshoot....

If you hit up Pink Bike, you can check out a "Behind the Scenes" write up by Ian Hylands about our photoshoot that has been featured in the latest issue of Decline Magazine. When Decline contacted us about their interest in writing a feature about us in the magazine, we dove head first into conceptualizing multiple highly stylized and creative ideas that captured exactly what our style and lifestyle is all about. It was an opportunity to let people into our world and get a glimpse at our life, influences, and creative process.

We were honored to be featured in the magazine and with us being so critical of anything we put out...we rarely bring other people into our creative process. Call us protective of what we do, but our biggest worry was being able to find someone to actually shoot our ideas...someone who would be willing to step away from the typical standard fluff of the industry, dive into our ideas, and hopefully capture what we envisioned to begin with.

By the time we were ready to bring a photographer into the mix, we had laid out 13 plus ideas that perfectly reflected our influences, passions, and creativity. We then had to find the right photographer to shoot our vision and with a long term relationship with Ian Hylands, we felt that he would be the only person capable of dealing with our manic creative control process we put everything we do through. It led to multiple days of shooting, a lot of Jack Daniels being drank, and we were happy to see our ideas being crossed off the list.

If only we would have had a few more days to get everything we had envisioned, but the final product speaks for itself and truly reflects our classic deity style. Hit up Pink Bike to check it out and make sure to pick up the latest issue of Decline on the newsstands.

The New Yorker: "Show the Monster"...

The New Yorker just published a profile on acclaimed director, Guillermo del Toro, that is quite a lengthy read...but worth it. The director of some of our favorite films such as "The Devil's Backbone", "Pan's Labyrinth", and "Cronos", Guillermo's passion for his genres is undeniable, admirable, and is reflected in the critical embrace he seems to receive from most of his films. Sure, we cannot stand "Hellboy" and some of his other work, but if all we ever get is the 3 films we listed above...we would be content. Hit up the New Yorker and read up on a master of film making.

The Rays MTB Milwaukee Grand Opening...

If you have ever been to Ray's, you probably know that we are one of the ramp sponsors and also one of the select product lines they carry at both locations. We have been honored to be involved with Ray since the beginning and it is great to see his hard work expand with the arrival of Trek. The grand opening of their new location just went down and here is a recap from Eric Schutt from Ray's MTB...
