Meet the Voice Over the Telephone...

Many of you already know that we are a true rider owned, operated, and funded company...but many of you may not have a clue who we are or if you call us up, who the person on the other line is. Did you know that if you speak to us over the phone or e-mail...you are interacting directly with one of the two owners? It may come to a surprise to some, but to us, this one on one communication with our customers is a critical aspect of what keeps us inspired, motivated, and reminded why we run a business. Regardless, if you have called us, placed an order, etc...you have undoubtedly spoken to Sadie or she has personally packed and shipped your order with love. A critical part of deity, Sadie is the person who runs back and forth day in and day out, pushing orders out hour after hour, e-mailing you tracking information, making sure the chaos of the day does not fall apart, and much more. At the jump, read a quick interview with Sadie and get a glimpse at the person you have all spoke to...

Give us your full name and title?

Mrs. deity...aka Sadie Davies...aka  Black Sunshine:-0

Most people may not know that you are co-owner of the company. Are people surprised when they find out they are speaking to one of the owners?

I don't ever tell people I'm the owner, although some people figure it out.  I'm just another rider blessed with the freedom to do and say whatever the hell I want!!

Do you wear a headset while on the phone Sadie...be honest?

I fought the headset for a long time, but I finally gave in when I started walking around like Frankenstein's monster and couldn't turn my neck...

What do you enjoy the most about your position at deity?

I love talking to people all day about bikes, riding, and just what is going on with other peoples' lives, but mostly, I love being involved with the creative side of the deity. We have allowed ourselves the freedom to integrate what we love, our inspirations, and passions through deity and it is a ton of fun!

As a woman in our industry, what do some people assume about you when they first call up the company?

Some people are surprised when they call for a tech question and I am so familiar with our products, bikes, and the industry.  But I have to say, most people are really cool and I don't think they think or feel any different regardless. I am a rider, so people quickly realize that I am not just some sales staff that is here to collect a check.

You often speak with pride about deity customers and you seem to truly enjoy your interaction with each of them. Why?

Everyday I talk to die-hard deity supporters who get more out of deity than just bike parts.  I guess it taps into how I look at the world. There aren't too many things that get my engine going...but the things that do, have become part of who I am and I'm hooked for life.

Do you believe in having to dig to earn your trails or do you poach trails like most people?

Okay, I have to be honest, I never understood what it meant to truly earn the trail until we moved to Idaho, but now I love to dig and it's more than just putting in the work, you become in tune with the dirt and I love to look out the back door at my trails and think about all the possibilities.

What is your favorite bike at the moment?

Well, funny you should ask...I have been on my proto Cryptkeeper for just about a year and it reminds me of the moment I fell in love with riding, the bike disappears under me and I'm just flying. We have owned many different bikes and nothing compares to it for dirt jumping.

You seem to have quite the stable of bikes. Give us the rundown?

So, I have a fully decked Cryptkeeper with all deity metal, all white and black. I have a Transitions Siren in baby blue with full Rock Shox, Sram bits, and our parts, and I have a Covert for all mountain. We also have various other builds that we all beat the hell out of.

What do you prefer...tricks or style on a bike?

Style all day!  It's all in the style, not the trick. But, if you can merge both together then you get extra points from me.

There are a lot of new projects happening at deity right now...what are you most excited about?

We have worked really hard on the new frames coming out in March and I know they feel and look amazing.  I am also excited for more people to see what we are all about and get introduced to the new direction our company has been going since we relocated.  I think our products are the best in the industry, have style for days, and just wait until you guys see what we are up to for late 2011! Soooo exciting!
